Astir Odysseus Hotel Kos

OUR SUGGESTIONS FOR AN ENJOYABLE STAY IN THE ISLAND OF KOS

Day 1: Discovering the city of Kos

Meet the picturesque town of Kos with the oldest plane tree in Europe in the shade of which, it is said that the “Father of Medicine” Hippocrates, taught and wrote many of his writings. Take a walk in the Castle of the Knights and in its bridge that links with the rest of the city. Your stroll along the Avenue of the Palms, the tourist shops and the Liberty Square, where you can visit the Municipal Market, can be finished nicely with a relaxing coffee and a local sweet, such as the famous sweet tomatoes of Kos.

Day 2: Bike rides and a visit at the Asclepeion

Begin your day with a bike ride to the wonderful bikeway that stretches across the coastline of Kos town. Then visit one of the most ancient and famous monuments of the island, the Asclepeion, just 4km away from the Astir Odysseus Kos. The sea view combined with the history of Asclepeion will impress you. There is the possibility of organizing the re-enactment of the Oath of Hippocrates for groups, in the area of Asclepeion, upon request.

Day 3: Day trip to Kalymnos, Pserimos, Nisyros or Turkey

It is worth to make a daily boat trip to the neighboring islands. For the lovers of mountaineering we suggest the island of Kalymnos that offers many climbing and hiking trails. Enjoy a swim in Pserimos where the blue waters will amaze you. Finally, visit Nisyros and the distinctive volcanic landscape will enchant you. Alternatively, you can get in touch with another culture in just 40 minutes from the port of Kos where you can visit the tourist resort of Turkey, Bodrum.

Day 4 : Visit a winery and enjoy the sunset in Zia

In a short distance from the hotel is the winery Triantafillopoulos where you can see all stages of wine production and to try the different varieties of wine among the vineyards, with the possibility of an organized tour in the winery. Furthermore, you can visit the picturesque village of Zia, where every afternoon many people are flocking to see the magnificent sunset and make a walk to the traditional village.

Day 5: Excursion to Kefalos

The region of Kefalos is located in a distance of 35 km from our hotel. In ancient times Kefalos was the first capital of Kos, as testified by the ruins of the old castle. Enjoy swimming in Paradise that is one of the most famous beaches of the island with white sand and water sports. In the restaurants of the region taste fresh fish and local sweets, especially those made with local honey.
